Few Inspirations

April 1st, 2010

Few short stories of great people from my collection:

When Thomas Edison invented the light bulb, he tried over 2000experiments before he got it to work. A young reporter asked him how it felt to fail so many times. He said, “I never failed once. I invented the light bulb. It just happened to be a 2000-step process.

Wilma Rudolph was the 20th of 22 children. She was born prematurely and her survival was doubtful. When she was 4 years old, she contacted double pneumonia and scarlet fever, which left her with a paralyzed left leg. At age 9, she removed the metal leg brace she had been dependent on and began to walk without it. By 13 she had developed a rhythmic walk, which doctors said was a miracle. That same year she decided to become a runner. She entered a race and came in last. For the next few years every race she entered, she came in last. Everyone told her to quit, but she kept on running. One day she actually won a race. And then another.

From then on she won every race she entered. Eventually this little girl, Who was told she would never walk again, went on to win three Olympic gold medals.

In 1962, four nervous young musicians played their first record audition for the executives of the Decca recording Company. The executives were not impressed. While turning down this group of musicians, one executive said, “We don’t like their sound. Groups of guitars are on the way out.” The group was called The Beatles.

In 1944, Emmeline Snively, director of the Blue Book Modeling Agency, told modeling hopeful Norma Jean Baker, “You’d better learn secretarial work or else get married.” She went on and became Marilyn Monroe.

In 1954, Jimmy Denny, manager of the Grand Ole Opry, Fired a singer after one performance. He told him, “You ain’t goin’ nowhere….son. You ought to go back to drivin’ a truck.” He went on to become the most popular singer in America named Elvis Presley.

When Alexander Graham Bell invented the telephone in 1876, it did not ring off the hook with calls from potential backers. After making a demonstration call, President Rutherford Hayes said, “That’s an amazing invention, but  who would ever want to use one of them?”

In the 1940s, another young inventor named Chester Carlson took his idea to 20 corporations, including some of the biggest in the country. They all turned him down. In 1947 – after seven long years of rejections! He finally got a tiny company in Rochester, New York, the Haloid company, to purchase the rights to his invention an electrostatic  paper-copying process. Haloid became Xerox Corporation we know today.

A winner is not one who never fails, but one who NEVER QUITS!

Some Cool SMS – From ALee

Old aunties used to annoy me at WEDDINGS by pinching my cheeks & saying “You’re NEXT”.

Brain is the most important part of human body, it works 24 hours a day and remain awake even you are sleeping. It started working right after your birth and works and works Until you get MARRIED.

Four:

A school held a contest for kidz. The theme was:

The nicest thing my DAD ever did for ME!

Award winning answer was:

He MARRIED my MOM!

Five

A little girl and her father were crossing a bridge.

Father said: Please hold my hand.

Girl: No Dad! You hold my hand.

Father: What’s the difference?

Girl: If I hold your hand, I may leave in some difficulty, but I am sure, if you hold my hand, you’ll never leave my hand.

May God Bless Our Parents.

A great sentence was written at a japneese bus stop.

Only buses stop here, not your time, so keep walking towards your goal.

Strange Realities

EASY

is to judge the mistakes of others.

is to hurt someone who loves you.

is to set rules.

is to dream every night.

is to say we love.

is to make mistakes.

DIFFICULT

is to recognize our own mistakes.

is to heal the wound.

is to follow them.

is to fight for a dream.

is to show it every day.

very hard to learn from them.

Inspirational Wisdom

Learn to Share

February 10th, 2009

A very good piece of text i received today from a friend:

A holy man was having a conversation with God one day and said, ‘ God, I would like to know what Heaven and Hell are like.’

God led the holy man to two doors. He opened one of the doors and the holy man looked in. In the middle of the room was a large round table. In the middle of the table was a large pot of stew, which smelled delicious and made the holy man’s mouth water. The people sitting around the table were thin and sickly. They appeared to be famished. They were holding spoons with very long handles, that were strapped to their arms and each found it possible to reach into the pot of stew and take a spoonful. But because the handle was longer than their arms, they could not get the spoons back into their mouths. The holy man shuddered at the sight of their misery and suffering.

God said, ‘You have seen Hell.’

They went to the next room and opened the door. It was exactly the same as the first one. There was the large round table with the large pot of stew which made the holy man’s mouth water. The people were equiped with the same long-handled spoons, but here the people were well nourished and plump, laughing and talking.

The holy man said, ‘I don’t understand..’ It is simple,’ said God . ‘It requires but one skill. You see they have learned to feed each other, while the greedy think only of themselves.’

Learn to share and make friends.

Remember friends are the family that we choose for ourselves…

Angels

December 20th, 2008

What Do Angels Look Like?

Like the poor factory worker who offered to share his lunch with you.

Like the old store-keeper who returned your wallet yesterday.

Like the small child who showed you the wonder in simple things.

Like the rich successful man who showed you it really is all possible, if only you believe.

Like the stranger who just happened to come along, when you had lost your way.

Like the friend who touched your heart, when you didn’t think you had one left to touch.

Angels come in all sizes and shapes, All ages and skin types.

Some with freckles, some with dimples, some with wrinkles, some without.

They come disguised as friends, enemies, teachers, students, lovers and fools.

They don’t take life too seriously, They travel light.

They leave no forwarding address, They ask for nothing in return.

They are hard to find when your eyes are closed, But They are everywhere, when you choose to see.
