Dr. Colin Cambell and Thomas Cambell II have released a book (The China Study), it details their diet plan drawing on project findings in rural China.

The official website already claims more than 100k readers, and the fact is, The China Study is quickly becoming one of the most regarded and discussed diet books of 2009.

I especially love this line (on the official website) and agree to it as well “Change your diet and dramatically reduce the risk of cancer, diabetes, heart disease and obesity.”

“After a long career in research and policy-making, I have decided to step ‘out of the system.’ I have decided to disclose why Americans are so confused,” said Dr. Campbell. “As a taxpayer who foots the bill for research and health policy in America, you deserve to know that many of the common notions you have been told about food, health and disease are wrong.”

The New York Times has recognized the study as the “Grand PRix of epidemiology” and the “most comprehensive large study ever undertaken of the relationship between diet and the risk of developing disease.”

As a researcher for Virginia Tech and MIT, Dr. Campbell worked to promote consumption of protein rich foods to increase overall health — “high-quality animal protein … It was an obvious sequel to my own life on the farm and I was happy to believe that the American diet was the best in the world.”
